I suspect due to the 'chip shortage' Dell was forced to dive into the ol' parts bin and ship this particular with an older - and MUCH lower specs - Pentium Gold 5th generation CPU with limited cache.
To try to compensate, Dell also shipped this unit with a M. That was very good of them. But the mis-match seems to be creating some lag in 'getting things done', although not critical. I may probably be wrong about this, but then I'm not a computer whiz. It would be great if Dell eventually tracked this order and in future shipped us a comparable Core i3 CPU with a realistic cache.
Hey, I can dream! In addition - comes spec'd with Win 10 Home not S mode. S mode sucks and the time it takes to dump it is a pain. I use this for personal and business computing at home - currently independent contractor. Screen size is good - can use stand-alone when I travel but add larger screen at home for second screen.
Keyboard is also fine for travel, which again I supplement at home with separate key board. Could have used more ports but extension ports seem work fine. Google and other aps work fine. I only gave 4 stars as every new computer set up is a pain.
Dell has been a reliable partner of mine for years. I'm very happy with this machine it works great, I wished it had touch screen but for the money I can live without it.

Report abuse. Love this lap top, great for the money, ideal for what I want. So my question is, can I install Windows 7 on this laptop? I was told at the shop it will not run on it. Any help please? But based on that hardware currently installed, I am not sure if there is any "optimization" that can be done within Windows 10 to really speed it up.
Ask the guys on the Windows 10 board. Anything with a seventh or eighth generation CPU 7xxx and 8xxx parts will not run Windows 7. Even on 6th generation CPUs, a recent, system-specific build of 7 is required.
